Why did you choose
to become a doctor?
I'm thankful that God gave me the
ability to help and care for the health and well-being of animals.
I grew up in Cincinnati, OH and
graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary
Medicine in 1989. My family and I moved to Red Lion right out of
veterinary school and have
been
here
ever since. We love the people and the area of York County. Over the
years,
between myself
and my 5 children, I/we have had pet snakes, fish, turtles, rabbits,
hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs, birds, cats, and dogs ... all creatures
great and small.
Hobbies -
Going to my children's activities, camping, coin collecting and
photography.

Favorite animal - Felines

Why did you choose
to become a doctor?
I was born and raised in Red Lion.
Throughout my life, I have had an interest in the
science field and have always had
a love for animals. After graduating from Red Lion
Area Senior High School in
1950, I attended Franklin & Marshall College. I
got my degree in veterinary
medicine from the University of Pennsylvania. Upon
completion of veterinary
school, I joined the Air Force and was stationed in
France from 1957 - 1960. I
have been in practice in Red Lion since 1960.
Hobbies -
Woodworking and golf.
Dr. Sabrina
Walters
Adopted - June 2000
Number of pets -
1 dog, a mixed terrier name "Stanley"
Why did you choose
to become a doctor?
I cannot remember ever wanting to do
anything else. I have always been interested in
animals and nature and also had a
strong interest in medicine, so it seemed natural to
combine these two loves into a career.
Dr.
Kevin Schmidt
Number of pets - 2 dogs - Duke & Blue, both mixed
breeds
Why did you choose to
become a Dr?
I grew up
with veterinary medicine. My dad, Dr Douglas Schmidt,
would
take
me to vet school with him. After he graduated, he
would
take
me
to
work
on
Sundays
and
I
was
always
captivated
watching
him
as
he
made
the
dogs
and
cats
better.
I
always
wanted
to
follow
in
his
foot
steps
and
be
able to care for animals as he has.
Dr.
Kathleen Spencer

Number
of pets - 4
dogs, one cat, a snake and a dwarf hamster.
Dr Spencer is a
graduate of Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine.
Her first three
years were spent on the island of St. Kitts and her fourth clinical
year at the
University of Florida in Gainesville. She also completed an elective
rotating
internship at Animal Special Group Inc in Los Angeles last year.
Dr Spencer grew
up in West Palm Beach, Florida and received her undergraduate
degree in
Biology from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. Prior to
veterinary
school, she
was a veterinary technician for many years and has been in the
veterinary
field since she
was 18 years old. She grew up riding horses and volunteering at a
therapeutic
riding
center for the handicapped. She also always had several small critters
at home.
She is new to the
area and currently resides with her fiance, Dr Kevin Schmidt. She is
interested
in all
aspects of small animal veterinary medicine, but especially enjoys
internal and emergency
medicine. She
enjoys hiking and spending time with her fiance and animals in her free
time.
