Why did you choose to become a doctor? I'm thankful that God gave me
the
ability to help and care for the health and well-being of animals.
I grew up in Cincinnati, OH and graduated from The Ohio State
University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1989. My family and
I moved to
Red Lion
right out of veterinary school and have been here ever since.
We love the people
and the area of York County. Over the years, between
myself and my 5
children, I/we have had pet snakes, fish, turtles,
rabbits,
hamsters,gerbils,
guinea pigs, birds, cats, and
dogs ... all creatures Great and
Small.
Hobbies - Going to my children's activities, camping, coin collecting

Why did you choose to become a doctor? I was born and raised in Red
Lion.
Throughout my life, I have had an interest in the
science field and
have always had
a love for animals. After graduating from Red Lion
Area
Senior High School in
1950, I attended Franklin & Marshall College.
I got my degree in veterinary
medicine from the University of
Pennsylvania. Upon completion of veterinary
school, I joined the Air
Force and was stationed in France from 1957 - 1960. I
have been in
practice in Red Lion since 1960.
Hobbies - Woodworking, golf.
Dr. Sabrina
Walters -
Associate Veterinarian
Started at PVH - June
2000
Number of pets - 1 dog, a mixed terrier name "Stanley"
Why did you choose to become a doctor? I cannot remember ever wanting
to do
anything else. I have always been interested in
animals and nature and
also had a
strong interest in medicine, so it seemed natural to
combine
these two loves into a
career.
Dr. Nancy Winning -
Associate veterinarian
Started at PVH -
April 2007
Number of pets - 6 horses and 14 cats
Why did you choose to become a doctor? From the early age of 6, I was
always
fascinated with animals. Not just for their
rewarding interaction and
positive
unconditional love: I found out I wanted to know
more about
'what makes them
tick'. The combination of science and emotional
interaction between pets and their
owners was also challenging and I
feel that's what makes my job so unique.
Dr. Kevin Schmidt - Veterinarian
Currently serving an internship
at a 15 specialty doctor practice in LA, California
Number of pets - 2 dogs - Duke & Blue, both mixed breeds
Why did you choose this profession? I grew up with veterinary medicine.
My dad, Dr
Douglas Schmidt, would take me to vet school with him. After he
graduated, he
would take me to work on Sundays and I was always captivated watching
him as he
made the dogs and cats better. I always wanted to follow in his foot
steps and be
able to care for animals as he has.
