Wendy Grove

Receptionist Wendy Grove is the first to admit that some of the most enjoyable times of her life have been spent working with animals. Her past jobs have included milking cows on a dairy farm, taking care of the livestock section at The Mill, and working the front desk at an animal hospital in Maryland.

“You know, I just relate well with animals—they brighten your day,” she says. “I’ve tried other jobs here and there, but nothing really fit me. I always found myself coming back to animals.”

Wendy’s great love for animals developed early in life. She grew up on a farm and never objected to getting dirty. In fact, she’s a self-confessed tomboy.

“I was a kid who would rather climb trees and make mud pies and jump from the barn beams than play with my dollies!”

The family farm where Wendy lived was a vast property that served as home to cows, pigs, barn cats and large populations of poultry. At one point, she remembers that her family owned in excess of 7,000 chickens. The farm became the site of Wendy’s first official animal rescue mission--performed at the age of five.

“One time I set the turkeys free for my mom,” she recalls with a laugh. “I told her that I let them out so she could watch them better. I was saving the animals even way back then.”

All grown up now, Wendy is a dedicated wife, mother and grandma with two daughters and two granddaughters. (“I love being a nana!”). Her free time is spent practicing her favorite hobby—cooking. She has a huge collection of cookbooks and online recipes and welcomes any occasion to whip something up, adding her own twist each time.

As for her work life, she is thrilled to be a member of the PVH team and enjoys the hours she is able to spend working with both animals and people.

“I feel like I was led here to work and I just love it. I really think that ten years from now I’ll still be here, and I’ll be able to look back and say, ‘I’m really glad I was hired at PVH in 2014’.”
