Amy

Adopted: June 2006

Number of pets: 2 dogs and 3 cats

Client relations specialist Amy Anderson became a member of the PVH team in June 2006. A graduate of Red Lion High School, she was a longtime client of both Dr Patton and Dr Schmidt, who cared for many of her rescued pets.

“I always loved animals,” she says. “I loved learning about them and how to take care of them. I thought that somehow a job in an animal hospital would be in my future.”

A busy fulltime mom to son Jack and daughter Jovie, Amy was delighted that her schedule at PVH could be adapted to fit her family life, which includes home schooling through the Pennsylvania Virtual Charter School. She serves as a learning coach for the online program, and must maintain her own level of learning credits in order to continue.

“Home schooling is a full time job,” she admits. “It’s very demanding.”

In addition to her children, Amy remains dedicated to her menagerie of pets which includes Hans, a German shorthaired pointer, Mario, an English springer spaniel, 3 rescued cats (Thomas, Tucker and Charlotte), 2 ducks, and 20 chickens! Her chickens are so productive that she never has to stop at the grocery store to buy eggs.

“It’s wonderful—the eggs are better because they’re fresh. I collect them every day.”

One of Amy’s favorite family activities has become an annual tradition. Each year during the fall, she gathers her husband and son, along with Hans and Mario, and goes pheasant hunting! Although she doesn’t hunt herself, Amy enjoys the time spent with “her boys” and seeing her prized canines in action.

“They (Hans and Mario) love it!” she says. “It’s really neat to see them in the field doing what they were bred to do.”
